For the first time, Teresa Verney brings her much-loved singing holidays to the Aegean. A week of harmony, laughter and stillness aboard an elegant Turkish gulet where the seamless flow of singing, exploring and stillness offer a rare kind of peace – and fun too!
Teresa believes that everyone has a voice worth hearing. With warmth, humour and gentle encouragement, she creates a space where you can relax, let go, and sing purely for the joy of it. You’ll learn by ear — simple, beautiful songs from near and far — and discover the joy of creating harmony together.
Between songs, the days unfold like a melody of their own: drifting across shimmering turquoise bays, wandering pine forests and olive groves, tracing ancient paths worn by centuries of coastal travellers, and exploring ruins and ramparts that whisper of times long past. Meals are a feast of colour and flavour, freshly prepared on board and shared beneath wide, open skies, while the gentle rhythm of sailing carries you from one breathtaking view to the next.
It’s a week to fill your heart — with song, friendship, and the beauty of the Aegean. This seamless flow of singing, exploring, and stillness creates a rare kind of peace — one that lingers long after the sea fades from view.

Having undergone a re-fit gulet East Meets West has been handcrafted using oak, teak, iroko and ash so has the traditional feel and look of real wood. East Meets West is comfortable with cabins which are smaller than you’d expect in a hotel but larger than on a sailing yacht. Cabins have a small wardrobe with storage under the bed for luggage and either two single beds or one double bed. Every cabin has a private en-suite bathroom with toilet, hand basin and shower; hot water is available in the evenings. A bath towel and hand towel are provided together with a beach towel.
With plenty of sunbeds on the fore and aft decks choose how to relax; sunbathing, reading, chatting or perhaps you’ll even sleep here under the stars. Meals are usually taken on the aft deck where you have a different view for almost every meal.
Teresa’s holidays focus on the simple but profound joy of creating harmony through singing simple songs with other people. She teaches everything by ear so you need have no prior musical experience or knowledge. She uses songs that she writes herself and songs from the huge and varied collections from within the worldwide aural tradition. Having previously worked in the therapeutic field, Teresa also delights in nurturing each individual to enable them to find the courage to let their own unique voice be heard. .
Those who would like to walk can join us a couple of times during the cruise; pine forests

and olive groves invariably create a restful, peaceful environment for acapella singing or chanting; enabling us to take note of birdsong, the breeze rustling in the trees, the gentle sound of waves lapping against the shore.
We will be walking along forest and goat trails which are rocky, stony and uneven – this isn’t a hiking or walking holiday but rather these trails give us the opportunity to find song in nature, whether that’s under the canopy of the pine forest, in an olive grove or at the turquoise edge of the Aegean.
Probably not everyone will choose to walk but if you decide to come you will need to wear appropriate footwear such as hiking boots/shoes (Hiking sandals or trainers/sneakers or regular shoes are not robust enough).
You will need a reasonable level of fitness to participate in optional walks and will need to bring a small backpack, suitable footwear (with/without ankle support). We have a few spare pairs of walking poles onboard, just drop me a note if you would like me to save some for you. Bring a refillable, reusable container for water.
