We’re delighted to welcome Sophia back to the decks of the newly refurbished gulet East Meets West.
Sophia has a unique and infectious style, bringing a sweet balance of humour and depth to her work. Her warm and playful nature creates a sense of ease and unity, enabling everyone to drop into a space that is both held and free.
She collects and teaches songs from different cultures and traditions from around the world, leading harmony singing workshops with people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to bring out the natural voice and reinforce our innate human ability to make music. Her singing workshops are soul inspiring, heart warming and empowering, creating a sense of euphoria and connection for all.
Due to the nature of singing in a group setting, this holiday is open to people who are currently or have previously sung with Sophia, either in a choir or workshop setting or are familiar with group harmony singing.

Having undergone a re-fit gulet East Meets West has been handcrafted using oak, teak, iroko and ash so has the traditional feel and look of real wood. East Meets West is comfortable with cabins which are smaller than you’d expect in a hotel but larger than on a sailing yacht. Cabins have a small wardrobe with storage under the bed for luggage and either two single beds or one double bed. Every cabin has a private en-suite bathroom with toilet, hand basin and shower; hot water is available in the evenings. A bath towel and hand towel are provided together with a beach towel.
With plenty of sunbeds on the fore and aft decks choose how to relax; sunbathing, reading, chatting or perhaps you’ll even sleep here under the stars. Meals are usually taken on the aft deck where you have a different view for almost every meal.
Sophia will lead a singing session at least once each day. These are usually for two hours in the morning, depending on whether we are cruising or moored up somewhere, and/or an hour before dinner in the evenings. We often stop on the hikes to sing with the land, and have been known to flashmob at the mudbaths! There will be a good balance between the singing and any other activities you fancy (including lying onboard in the sun).
Hiking is optional.
Those who would like to walk can join us a couple of times during the cruise; pine forests and olive groves invariably create a restful, peaceful environment for acapella singing or chanting; enabling us to take note of birdsong, the breeze rustling in the trees, the gentle sound of waves lapping against the shore.
We will be walking along forest and goat trails which are rocky, stony and uneven – this isn’t a hiking or walking holiday but rather these trails give us the opportunity to find sing in nature, whether that’s under the canopy of the pine forest, in an olive grove or at the water’s turquoise edge.
Quite possibly not everyone will choose to walk but if you decide to come you will need to wear appropriate footwear such as hiking boots/shoes/sandals (trainers/sneakers or regular shoes are not robust enough).
You will need a reasonable level of fitness to participate in optional walks and will need to bring a small backpack, suitable footwear (with/without ankle support), and you will find hiking poles are very useful. Bring a refillable, reusable container for water.
